Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Reserve: this newly created park is part of the Selous Reserve, founded in 2019 and covering an area of ​​over 30,000 km², making it the largest national park in Africa.

The park is home to the largest elephant population in Tanzania as well as a large number of lions, leopards, African hunting dogs, buffaloes and hippos. Commonly observed species are antelopes, red and blue cormorants, elands, hartebeest, hyenas, giraffes, oryxes, reduncas, impalas, sing sing or crescent cob antelopes and zebras.
